In 1964, Jim Ververelli decided he could work for himself.

Dimitri Ververelli (Jim, as many people came to know him) seized the opportunity to establish his own consulting engineering firm - cultivating clients and a reputation based on quality, detail-oriented work.

“Nothing will work unless you do.”

Upon completion of his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan in 1950, Jim went on to work for Smith, Hinchman & Grylls in Detroit, MI, known today as SmithGroup. One of the first projects he worked on was the GM Technical Center in Warren, MI, which is still in operation today. After meeting the love of his life, Jim found himself in Philadelphia, PA where he began working for Moody & Hutchinson (known today as Wick Fisher White). After tenures at both the Kuljian Corporation and George M. Ewing Co. (related to today’s EwingCole), Jim established Dimitri J. Ververelli, Inc (DJVI) in 1964.

The Next Generation

John Ververelli joined the business in 1985 and became President in 1995. Under John’s leadership, some of DJVI’s current clients are those that the company started out with – a testament to how valued client relationships are to the firm. The DJVI portfolio is filled with notable work from industrial and commercial projects, petrochemical and pharmaceutical research facilities, K-12 and higher education institutions, central plant projects, national and international corporate headquarters, and historical preservation projects.
